JMS Club May Youth of the Month
NAME: Kaylee Smith
SCHOOL: Jasper Middle School 6th grade
How long has this child been a Club Member? 4 years.
Why Selected? Kaylee was selected because she is friendly, well-mannered, participates well in discussions and often has a smile on her face. Kaylee also gets along well with club members as well as staff members.
Youth Quote: Kaylee says “The Club means that I can hang out with my friends and not have to worry about school or homework. My favorite part is going outside and enjoying the sunshine.”
Parent/Guardian Quote: Mom Heather says, “the Boys & Girls Club gives Kaylee a safe place to be after school. I like the fact that there is still a focus on academics even though the school day has technically ended. The kids have to work on their homework and there are ‘life skills’ projects such as giving directions and hand writing drills that are not covered during school hours.”
Special Activities/Hobbies: Kaylee enjoys taking pictures and going outside. She also has a dog named Max and likes to hula hoop.
Career Aspirations: Kaylee wants to be a photographer because she takes good pictures and enjoys it.
PCMS May Youth of the Month
NAME: Jillian Defebough
SCHOOL: PCMS 6th grade
How long has this child been a Club Member? 8 months
Why Selected? Jillian was selected as Youth of the Month for her outstanding Character. Jillian is not afraid to stand up for what is right even if others are not.
Youth Quote: “I enjoy coming to the Boys & Girls Club because I get to hang out with my friends, helping other people, and learning new stuff.”
Parent/Guardian Quote: Jillian has always enjoyed coming to the Boys amp&; Girls Club. Here she gets to hang out with her friends and learn new things. I think it is a great place for Jillian to be after school. (Dad—James Defebough)
Special Activities/Hobbies: Jillian enjoys riding horses, bike riding, fishing and hunting.
Career Aspirations? Jillian wants to work with horses because that is her passion.
ROPER PARK May Youth of the Month
NAME: Autumn Brooks
SCHOOL: Harmony Elementary 3rd Grade
Why Selected: Autumn has really come out of her shell since she has been at the Boys amp&; Girls Club. She is always asking “what are we doing next” because she has so much fun doing our activities and programs. We love having her here because her smile and excitement light up the room.
Youth Quote: Autumn says “I like playing with other kids and learning stuff. My favorite things are playing the x-box, puzzles, and playing outside.”
Parent/Guardian Quote: “She learns about different things and she also has students her age to play with.” Mother- Donna Hendon
Special Activities/Hobbies: Autumn likes to watch TV, ride her bike and go swimming.
Career Aspirations? Autumn wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up because she loves animals and wants to the help them. She wants to give them love when they are hurt or not feeling well.
